Camping at Glamis

So, it has been a while since I have blogged. We have been soooo busy and a lot has happened since I posted last, so I have some catch-up to do. Over Valentine's weekend (yes, WAY back in February), our family went to Glamis for the first time. There were several families that we knew (also some we didn't know) that were going and we decided to go and try something new. The whole group met up in the desert and formed a circle with their RV's, trailers, etc. (It reminded me of pioneers with their wagons circling up for the night). The outside of the circle was marked by caution tape so that other people on quads didn't ride through camp. The whole area was full with these camp circles surrounded with caution tape. When you were outside of the circle, it was free reign for the quads, dirt bikes, rhinos, etc. Someone explained it as "organized chaos" - which was fitting. It was dry camping, which meant that you had to carry in everything that you needed (including water). So showers were at a minimum - the boys were excited about that! The sand was very fine, and easily made its way into EVERYTHING! (Just this week Tayler opened something - and said 'There is STILL sand in here from Glamis' - which is incredible to me, because we cleaned/washed EVERYTHING - apparently I missed something.) Anyway, we don't have any dirt toys, but our friends do, and they were kind enough to share with our family (thanks, guys). We had a great time and experienced something new! Our trailer - Norm having fun! Shelly learning how to drive. Ryan takes a break so mom can snap a picture (sorry about the pink helmet Ry - we were borrowing gear) Bradin wants in on the action too! I even took a turn - it was AWESOME! Tayler really enjoyed riding. We were there for Valentine's Day - the kids woke up to find the trailer 'heart-attacked'! We got to take a ride as a family (almost everyone fit) - The kids LOVED playing in the sand - they were in the right place for that! Bradin was dirty - but in heaven, the whole weekend! One family celebrated birthdays while we were there, so the kids enjoyed a birthday party - Glamis style. There was a pinata, birthday cake and bubbles. It was lots of fun! I learned the secrets of a french braid and practiced on Shelly. (Which she had been BEGGING for). The fire trail - one example of "organized chaos" - it is rumored that there are other examples - Sobe bombs, spud guns - (any incriminating evidence has been intentionally omitted :)

Norm takes a break so that I can get a picture. This is called 'Oldsmobile'. Cody took Norm on it. There is sagebrush in the foreground, but at the bottom of the hill - those are people on their toys. You can get a sense of how big this hill really is. This is Norm (and Cody) on their way down the hill. Those are not ants, they are people at the bottom. It is my understanding that Norm squealed like a little girl :) on the way down. J/K We had an incredible time at Glamis. It was a lot of fun! My family is still talking about it! Thanks everyone for sharing your toys and helping us have a GREAT time!
